Cultivate a lifelong love of art with Picture Study using Alveary's Charlotte Mason art appreciation curriculum designed for multi-age groups or individual students from grades 1–12. Students study works by three artists from the year's historical time period, building a rich visual vocabulary and developing a personal relationship with art over time. Lessons meet once a week and include extensions for older students that increase the length and sophistication of content. Discussion prompts connect artwork to Art Instruction concepts and invite students to consider how art intersects other areas of study. *Alveary 2026-27 membership includes the Bannister, Trotter & Van Gogh Collection which pairs well with History & Lit courses, geography, composer study, and handicrafts focused on History Rotation 3 (1800s).
The multi-authored Charlotte Mason Centenary Monograph series is designed to highlight and explore the continuing educational and leadership relevance of Charlotte Mason (1842–1923) through the collective contributions of the Armitt Museum and Library, the University of Cumbria, the Charlotte Mason Institute, and other scholars and practitioners worldwide.
