History & Lit: Rotation 2 (Grades 9-12)

Alveary 2026-27
(Digital copy)

$ 109.00 USD

These Literature & History bundles for grades 9–12 focus on the period from 1650-1800AD in US or Canadian and World History, and study Ancient History from 550-100BC once a week as well (Alveary Rotation 2). Students grow in their relationship with the past through lessons filled with engaging narratives, primary source documents, atlases, maps, and History Chart and Book of Centuries work. In Literature lessons, students study broad literary movements and significant authors in the History of Lit course and read narratives and mythology from and about the period such as The Scarlett Letter, an 18th century Chinese detective novel, and My Brother Sam is Dead. Students also read three plays (usually Shakespeare) per year — typically a tragedy, a comedy, and a history — with this with this year's selctions including Macbeth, Henry IV Part 1, and Much Ado About Nothing. Poetry reading covers a wide variety of authors and poems and focuses particuarly on Paradise Lost, The Odyssey, an epic tale by Longfellow, and Phillis Wheatley. The poetry study courses also grow students ability to read and write poetry with ease. *These courses pair naturally with many subjects, including art, music, architecture, and geography which coordinate with the time period.

The multi-authored Charlotte Mason Centenary Monograph series is designed to highlight and explore the continuing educational and leadership relevance of Charlotte Mason (1842–1923) through the collective contributions of the Armitt Museum and Library, the University of Cumbria, the Charlotte Mason Institute, and other scholars and practitioners worldwide.
