Searching for Peace
From the Alveary Team:
When you feel like your capacity, motivation, or energy aren’t enough to create the homeschool ideal you envision, it’s easy to find yourself overwhelmed and searching for peace. One Alveary mom shared the following reflections:
“I want my children’s homeschool experience to be this, that, and the other, but at the end of the day, I have to let go of control. Do I trust that I’ll be given what I need to rise to the calling of homeschooling? And more than that, to meet the deeper calling of simply being present and connected as their mother?
It always seems to come back to trust.
Is the discouragement I feel telling me the whole truth? Or is there beauty and growth happening even when I can’t see it? Am I holding myself to impossible standards, or can I rest in knowing that what I’m doing matters—even if it doesn’t look perfect?”
These words remind us that the weight of homeschooling doesn’t rest on perfection, but on presence and persistence. The vision you hold for your homeschool is meaningful—but it doesn’t need to be flawless to be valuable. What your children will remember most is your steady care, your willingness to keep showing up, and the atmosphere of learning and love you cultivate through the ups and downs.
Progress often looks quiet. Growth can be slow and hard to measure. But your efforts are not in vain. Peace doesn’t come from checking every box—it comes from knowing that your consistent care is enough. Share your thoughts in the Hive!
Notes:
- Student Curriculum Survey: We started a research project in the fall to explore the benefits of a relational education and are excited to continue it with a spring survey! Please have your Alveary students aged 10 and up complete the Student Survey (then there are a few questions at the end for you). *If you completed the survey in the fall, it would be very helpful if you completed it again this spring.* This enables us to compare fall responses to those this spring. If this is your first time taking the survey, please know that your information is also very helpful! As a thank you, we’ll be giving away three $25 Amazon gift cards to randomly selected winners to help you buy books and supplies for next year! Deadline: May 31st.
